Spring is a time of rebirth — flowers growing, younglings being born, etc. However, the season is also a time for traveling and sightseeing across many areas. There’s nothing like exploring the arts during bright, sunny, long Spring days. With that in mind, here are some art-centric cities to explore during the warm weather.

Atlanta, Georgia

As the Hollywood of the South, Atlanta is brimming with creativity throughout the metropolitan area. The city boasts several spots for visual art patrons, including the High Museum, MODA (Museum of Design Atlanta), and the Center of the Puppetry Arts. There are colorful murals like the Outkast tribute fill the city. If you’re looking for the performing arts and other Atlanta culture, there are places like The Fox and Alliance Theatres and the iconic Trap Museum.

Forth Worth, Texas

As a growing Southern metropolis, Fort Worth is emerging as a future city for all things creative. Spots like the Fort Worth Community Arts Center and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth offer excellent visual art — local and national. The performing arts are lively as venues like Bass Performance Hall, Performing Arts Forth Worth, and Casa Manana Theatre provide quality music and theatrical performances.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Outside New York City, Grand Rapids is another Northern city with a thriving art scene. The city is filled with public art, including La Grande Vitesse and Motu Viget. There are other venues for the visual arts, including Grand Rapids Art Museum and Muse GR. If you’re seeking music or theatre, places like Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, St. Cecilia Music Center, and The Intersection will make you feel a part of the experience.

St. Petersburg, Florida

St. Peterburg is a haven for those seeking a quirky art refuge in the American South. Visitors can experience different areas of visual arts, including the Salvador Dali Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and The Factory. You can visit venues like Jannus Live and Bilhemier Capitol Theatre on the performing arts side. Street art is a vital asset seen in the beautiful intersection of 5th Street and Central Avenue.

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is an art paradise in the American South. The waterfront city boasts several notable museums showing the South’s art and culture across decades, including the Savannah Cultural Arts Center and Savannah African Art Museum. The visual arts have a place in institutions like the SCAD Museum of Art, Jepson Center, and ARTS Southeast+Sulfur Studios. Multiple performing arts outlets exist, including the Historic Savannah Theatre and The Savannah Underground.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston has served multiple purposes throughout its centuries, including being an epicenter of Southern American art. Explore the city’s art culture by visiting venues like the Gibbes Museum of Art, the Lowcountry Artist Gallery, and the Charleston Artist Guild. If history is more you’re thing, the International African American Museum, The South Carolina Historical Society, and the Charleston Museum fit the assignment. Visit Gaillard Center or the Charleston Stage Company if you’re looking for outstanding performances.

Take what you need from this advice to make this the most creative Spring and Summer of your life.
